Aqueous Technologies manufactures cleaning systems and equipment primarily for defluxing PCB assemblies and removing solder paste from stencils.

The premier of their systems is the Trident Series cleaners. The Trident is a batch style cleaning system that can be configured as a Closed Loop, Limited Discharge or a Zero Discharge system, I'll describe more later on.

But first, why choose batch over inline? Both processes have their benefits. Inline gets better inpingement (better impact pressure) on the PCBs, generally quicker start to finish input to output per board, but they tend to be expensive in materials (Chemistry costs, DI Water usage, etc.), they also need consideration for someone to load and unload them, and some areas can find the noise intolerable, not to mention the size or footprint of the machine.

As compared to Aqueous Technologies batch cleaning systems are much more efficient with their chemistry usage, by using multiple pumps and seperated plumbing between wash and rinse cycles (no need to rinse any more chemistry down the drain then you absolutely need to). An operator can select a program, look at the estimated run time, and go work on some other tasks until the batch is complete, thus freeing up the operator's time. Additionally, there is less water to pump in a batch cleaner and it's a smaller machine and pretty well contained which helps a lot with the operational noise.

So what makes Aqueous Tech better than any other batch cleaner on the market? One key difference is using multiple pumps. Others will "get by" with one pump systems, but they ened up wasting chemistry when the chemistry that was still in the pump when the wash cycles transitioned from wash to rinse. Additionally, Aqueous Technologies has used stainless steal plumbing which makes their systems compatible with a wider variety of chemistries on the market. The Aqueous Technologies uses a touch screen interface that is simple to operate and allows for multi-level access control. With the newer Trident systems the majority of the maintenance systems (bag filter, Dosatron (chemical dosage system), Wash Tank, etc.) are located in the front of the machine for easy access.
