The Niton XL3t Analyzer is a handheld XRF (X-Ray Fluoresence) device used in many industries throughout the world, from Lead paint inspection, to environmental testing, to metal alloy analysis in scrap yards and WEEE/RoHS compliance in the electronics manufacturing industry. The analyzer allows you to test materials; components, bare PCBs, populated PCBs to insure that the assembly is compliant with the restrictions set forth in the WEEE/RoHS directive.

The analyzer uses a 50kv X-Ray tube in it's analysis of materials. It determines the presence of elements by their signature energy release caused by the X-Ray source. Once it determines the alloys and their concentrations, it cross references it to a built in library of materials which allow the unit to properly adentify many different alloy configurations. It stores each reading with a reference number and any other information that you can customize; i.e. lot number, Serial Number, etc. in an encrypted format on the unit. This data can be archived for use at a later date. Additionally, since the data is encrypted you can be sure that the results are accurate and unmodified. The Niton analyzer is the only unit on the market that can offer encrypted data.

The XL3t has a spot size that can be set to either 3mm or 8mm. In order to achieve the 3 mm you need to have the built in camera to ensure the unit is analyzing the proper target.

The unit is designed to be lightweight, portable and well balanced. The unit can also be used with a test stand that is lead shielded for operator safety.

The unit can communicate real time via RS-232 or via Bluetooth with a PC and the Unlicensed NDT Software. This software will allow you to remotely activate the unit (up to 100 meters) and also to view the encrypted data, but it won't allow you to change or modify the data, remember it's encrypted for your protection. If you wish to manipulate or work with any data to create a graph, you can simply have the software simultaneously export the data to Microsoft Excel.

The unit provides the customer with a quick screening tool that will allow you to break down materials into three basic categories: Compliant, non-Compliant and Needs Further Testing. There are certain WEEE/RoHS materials it cannot determine; i.e. differentiate Cr or Br, simply total Cr or Br. These elements will need further testing. The unit also can be employed for other applications, i.e. solder reclamation verification, solder purity, etc. These provide you with some more valueadd characterisitics of the XL3t unit.

If you should desire a demonstration, please let us know and we can arrange for a unit to be brought in to your facility.

WEEE/RoHS is the restriction of hazardous elements and their restriction from the European market.
The Elemental Limits (PPM) for WEEE/RoHS compliance are:

Cadmium - 100 ppm

Mercury - 1,000 ppm

Lead - 1,000 ppm

Hexavalent Chromium - 1,000 ppm

PBDE - 1,000 ppm

PBB - 1,000 ppm
